The cruise was really great. We went down the night before and visited with my cousins Marty & Ann. We enjoyed our
time with them.
First stop on the cruise was Nassau, Bahamas. Here we did a snorkeling trip and then wandered around the straw market.
This is a very large outdoor market with 100’s of stands all selling just about the same thing. It is an interesting
place to walk around.
Our next stop was St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. We took a 2 ½ hour tour of the island which then ended in the downtown area
where most of the shopping is. St. Thomas is a duty free, tax free port. If you are looking to purchase any jewelry there
is a good savings.
We then went on to San Juan, PR. Here we took a tour of the rain forest. We were lucky to see an iguana sitting on a rock
right next to the road (picture in album).
The last stop was Labadee, Haiti. This is a private beach for Royal Caribbean. They serve a bar BQ lunch and the beach
is really nice to sit on. There is also an area where the locals sell assorted items. There is also local entertainment.
Aboard ship there is no shortage of food. They have some very interesting entertainment as well a an excellent ice skating
show. Some of the daytime activities include ice skating, rock wall climbing, miniature golf, as well as art auctions.
December 18 Sherri arrived for a week long visit with us. During this time we managed to go to the Pirate Dinner show,
Arabian Nights show, and of course we went to Disney, MGM studios, Wild Kingdom, and Laurie’s favorite, Epcot.
We all had a wonderful time and to soon (Christmas Day) Sherri left for home.
New Years Eve will be quiet. We will attend a dance here in the park where we have spent the last month.
Our plans for next year are not set yet. We will be in FL through January and then move on to the Rio Grande Valley of
TX.
Next summer we plan on going back to Alaska to work up at the Denali Park Hotel in Healey.
