We left Las Vegas May 1, 2004 and headed East. We stopped in the Phoenix area and visited with some friends and
got to see Sherri in a dance recital. We also got to meet Sherri’s horse Pokey.
We then stopped in Tucson for a few days to visit with John. We then continued east , with a stop in Dallas to
see Jack and Susan and spent a number of very pleasant days with them. Then on to Oklahoma City for a week.
It seems that the main evening TV in OK city is watching where the tornados and hail are. They expected the tornados
to be about a ¼ mile from us. We quickly hooked up and left a day early. We then stopped in St. Louis, MO for a while and
then onto Louisville, KY.
June 9th we arrived in the Camp Hill, PA area to visit with Barry and his family. We had the whole Malamud
family together for Father’s Day and Mom and Dad’s 67th anniversary. Sherri flew in from AZ and Debbie
came up from Richmond, VA. Unfortunately Jessy was not feeling well and did not come. It was GREAT to be with everyone at
one time.
June 24 we left PA heading to visit our friends (Carlos and Donna Perry) in Nova Scotia, Canada. After a one day
delay in Danbury, CT (we had to have a broken spring replaced on the Rig). We arrived and spent some time with Carlos and
Donna. We then headed out to Cape Breton, NS with plans to meet the Perry’s again in a few weeks for the Atlantic Canada
Good Sam Samboree.
Cape Breton was really fantastic when it wasn’t raining (we had lots of rain). We got to go to the Gaelic
College in St. Anne, NS and see a couple of shows with local talent (students and instructors) that included lots of bag pipes,
fiddles, harps, and lots of dancing . They were great.
We also were there for the Highland games in Antigonish, NS. This was another unexpected highlight of our trip
North. It was a full day, starting with a parade and then competitions in Scottish field sports as well as Highland dancing
and bag pipe band competition.
We then joined the Perry’s again for the Samboree and made arrangements to meet in Sept. for the Maine Samboree.
We headed back to Bangor, ME and Laurie flew back to NM for a friends daughter’s wedding. When she returned
we traveled around the Bar Harbor and Acadia, NP area.
Next stop was the VT Samboree in Tunbridge, VT. They had just short of 400 rigs there and we enjoyed entertainment
every night (at this point Laurie had enough country music to last her a lifetime), but she was a good sport about it.
We then packed up and went to Cape Cod for a week. From there we headed north again. We went exploring in the White
Mountains and at Saco River, NH. We got together again with the Perry’s and went to the Maine Samboree. There was some
very good entertainment and Laurie took part in the Cast Iron Skillet throwing contest (she didn’t win) but it was fun.
The summer is over and we are heading South. First stop is in PA for a Visit with the family.
A week in Gettysburg where Carly and Ian joined us for a weekend, giving Barry and Johna a weekend alone. It allowed
us to have a great time with the grandchildren who we don’t see enough of.
We then headed over to Camp Hill. We spent some time with Barry and his family. Oct 23 we all got together in Reading
and attended a temple service for Dad’s 90th birthday. Debbie and Jessy came up from Richmond, VA. Sherri
was unable to come in from AZ this time.
It is now starting to get cool so we are heading to Fl with a stop in Richmond to be with Debbie and Jessy for
a few days.
Next stop was Myrtle Beach, SC. Briercliff Campground was real nice and they had a BBQ and dance for Halloween.
Costumes were optional and there were a few people in them. They did a real nice job and Laurie was happy they did not have
a country and western band. We also got to attend two very good shows there. The Christmas show at the Alabama Theater, and
Dolly Parton‘s, Dixie Stampede. Both shows were done very well.
We are now in St. Augustine, we are planning on see Laurie’s sister Rhoda Wed evening and Thursday. We then
will go to Daytona Beach and onto the FL Samboree in Orlando. We then will settle in for a month in Deerfield Park, FL and
visit with some of my cousins who live in the area.
November 2004
While in St. Augustine We got to visit with Laurie’s sister and nephew a couple of times.
We also booked a Cruise to the Caribbean for December from Miami. I’ll tell you more about it after we have come
back.
After leaving St. Augustine we went to Daytona Beach for a few days. While there we looked at a few new rigs at a local
show. There was a real nice Cedar Creek, but the cargo capacity was only 1700 lb which would not be enough for us.
We headed over to Orlando on Tues for a Samboree. One of the things we like about the Samboree’s is you always meet
some very nice and interesting people. Some that are traveling such as ourselves who we are going to try and meet up with
in the future.
We took a ride to Lazy Days RV superstore near Tampa. While there we looked at a Cameo LXI by Carriage.
Before the day was over we purchased a new Cameo LXI. They had to order the one we wanted and will have it for us the first
week in January. The new rig is very similar to the one we currently have, but since ours is 5 years old it is starting to
have some problems. So we are looking forward to our new home.
We got to Deerfield, Fl Nov. 21 and have been able to spend some time with my cousins. The weather has been in the low
80’s and sunny most of the time. This has allowed us to enjoy the beach and Laurie now has another 25 lb of sea shells.
The Miami Zoo has be one of the nicest ones. The animals are not in cages. They roam free and they use a large mote around
the area to keep them in. This is a must see if you enjoy zoo’s.
The cruise was really GREAT we did the Western Caribbean. We got to meet some real neat couples who we had dinner with
each evening. One from NC, one from England, and a honeymoon couple from Spain (they only spoke Spanish). Laurie can speak
so Spanish so we were able to communicate with them.
We did some sight seeing at some of the ports and also went snorkeling at one stop. Of course we managed to eat and eat
and eat. Aboard ship they serve food from 6 AM to 2 AM (they give you a 4 hr break). There is also entertainment every night
and seemed there was always an art auction going on.
As you may have guessed we really enjoyed the cruise.
Our next stop is Orlando, FL. We spent Christmas and New Years there. We went to Sea World twice (once for New Years eve),
and Epcot.
We got together with my cousins Marty and Ann, one time at Sea World and another we went a day cruise to gamble. The days
was going along loosing for me until right at the end I hit a Royal Flush. So I came out ahead for the day, Laurie was behind
a little. We all had a good time.
So the year grows to an end. We can’t wait for our new rig to come in. We pick it up Jan. 25 and then we head out
West.
See you all on the next page for next year.
