Early January we head over to visit some cousins on the west coast of FL. We then head to Lake Okeechobee area to await
the arrival of our new rig. This is a quite area and we just relax and enjoy the parks we are staying at.
January 25 we arrive at Lazy Days and start two hectic days of transferring from one rig to the other. It is fun and very
tiring. Two days later we are heading north on Interstate 75 heading for Biloxi, MS our next stop.
We get to see a Mardi Gras parade and collect a bag of beads. We then took a ride to Meriden, MS to where Laurie’s
dad is buried.
We are now heading to the Rio Grande Valley of TX so Laurie can go back to McAllen where she grew up.
Laurie get to see and speak to some old friends and we spend a day in Mexico shopping for all kinds of bargains, and as
usual end up with a bunch of things we really don’t need.
Now onto San Antonio and then Austin.
If you never have been to San Antonio you really need to go. There are four Missions as well as the Alamo. They are all
very interesting to visit (there are some pictures in our album) and the Alamo gives some really good information on TX fight
for freedom.
An interesting point is that the TX flag is the only one that will fly at the same height as the United States Flag when
displayed together. This is because TX was a Republic at the time it became a state and therefore its own county. It was considered
equal and so it’s flag is allowed to fly at the same height.
In Austin we got to spend some time with Laurie’s niece and to celebrate Laurie’s birthday.
Our next stop is La Cruces, NM. We visit some friends and stay a couple of days. When we got there we had a hail storm
for about 10 min. this was just as we were checking in it left a layer of ice for about 15 min. after it stopped.
Our next stop is in Casa Grande for a Samboree and two weeks at the Western Horizon Park there. Sherri comes to stay for
a few days and we go to the Casa Grande Ruins and also to the Phoenix Zoo.
Our next stop is in Mesa, AZ and Barry and his family are here for a week. Sherri stays with us again and we get to spend
time with the grandchildren. We go to the Renaissance Festival and spend time a the pool.
We are now heading to Las Vegas, NV. We’ll be here about 5 weeks and get a chance to visit with Laurie’s mom
and other friends. We have also set up appointments with the Dr. so as to get checked out.
From there we will be heading out to Alaska the second week in May. We expect to spend about 3 months up in Alaska and
Canada this year.
The next page will be about Alaska.
