It’s been a while since I have last updated the web site, so here I will cover the last 3 1/2 months.

We left Orlando the second week of January and headed over to Ruskin, FL which is just south of Tampa. While we were there we went to the Ringling Bros Museum. One of the new buildings they have set up shows the history of the circuses and has a miniature circuses set up. This is quite large and extremely well done. There is also the home the Ringling’s lived in. They have refurbished it but kept most of the original furniture. They had named it Ca d'Zan Mansion. This is well worth the time if you are in the area.

We also took a day to go to the Tampa RV show. This is one of the largest in the country. We spent a full day looking at a lot of different rigs and floor styles. After all this we have decided that we are very happy with the rig we have. There was no one there that we said “I wish we had got this one”. We found that a lot of the rigs have a lot of storage space, but they do not allow enough weight capacity to put anything in it.

From there we worked our way over to the Rio Grande Valley of TX. We spent a month at a campground in Mission, TX. While we were there we took some day trips. The first was to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, TX. We spent a day in Progresso, Mexico. This is a typical border town with lots of small shops selling cheap onyx, booze, and all the other types of items that you cannot possible live without.

We took our satellite dish over to Progresso and had a desert scene painted on it. They have some young fellows that do this with cans of spray paint. They are very talented and can do it in a little over 5 minutes.

Since Laurie had gone to High School in McAllen and her father was the Rabbi there for a number of years we went to Fri. night services and Laurie got to see some people she has not seen in a long time.

Both of us celebrated our birthdays while we there and so we had a very nice choice of restaurants to go to. Laurie will never let me forget the year we ended up in Fort Stockton, TX on her birthday and the best restaurant in town was Pizza Hut.

We left the Rio Grand Valley and started a slow trip back to Las Vegas.

Our first stop was to visit Rachel and Duane in Austin, we spent a few days there and had a very nice visit. We then headed west and our next stop was in El Paso, TX to visit friends that live there. One of the best parts about traveling around is that we get to visit with friends and family that we would not see too often.

We continued to Tucson, AZ where we got together with John and Kathy. One evening we had dinner with them and also got to meet Kathy’s mom. Laurie has been looking forward to this ever since John got engaged. Kathy’s mom seems like a very pleasant person and we had a very enjoyable dinner.

Next stop was a Samboree ( Good Sam rally ) in Casa Grande, AZ. They do a very nice job of organizing the event. The only problem was that it started to rain on Saturday and the fairgrounds became a mud bog. We decided to move the rig to an area that was out of the mud. At this point the truck kept skidding in the mud and I could not get it hooked up. The fellow in the rig next to us offered to us his 4X4 to pull us to dry ground. We were then able to hook up.

We then stopped in Mesa and had dinner with Sherri.

We are now in Las Vegas and plan on staying here until the end of April. We are visiting with Laurie’s mom. John and Kathy have come up for a few days.

We are visiting with friends. One of the main reasons for being here for several weeks is to go see all the doctors. So far so good, all of our doctors are doing fine. Of course we are overeating at the buffet’s and enjoying every bit of it.

When we leave here we will head north and work our way up to Alaska for the summer. We plan on going back to the Kenai peninsula for a while and then spend some time in Anchorage. We will be at the hotel in Healy May 29th and start our workamp job at that time. We are both looking forward to the summer and exploring in Alaska again. It is beautiful country and we really enjoy it.
